It might well be said that to live is to have conflicts . It might be well said that if you think that dysfunctional families have conflicts – just try working with computers in the world of Microsoft Windows and now the current Microsoft Vista. The lessons are that conflicts are inevitable. Not only that if you try to rush it , or push to too hard – then what may happen , can happen – will happen only 5 to 10 events all at once.

The key is prevention. A major role of fire departments is not only to fight fires – but also to prevent those fires. Work to anticipate to prevent as well as deal with conflicts and situations of conflict.

What may be a small event – well under stress will get magnified and worse. Its like giving kerosene to an arsonist.

Try not to have events and conflicts run up and grow in the workplace . Work ahead of time to soothe nerves . Plan ahead. Do not leave events or planning for the last moment. It only compounds and gets much much worse.

This is the lesson of life.

Below are some workplace conflict resolution posts - events you may want to take notice of – where a lot more is covered than the role of facial expressions an behavior.

While we have to recognize the presence or potential of conflict before we can do something about it, we also need to know what, in terms of workplace conflict resolution strategies we should employ. Here are some.
